For once, a place that does modern, funky and fresh Thai, not your usual run of the mill stuff from your local Thai restaurant. The food is jam packed with chili and fresh herbs and presented nicely on interesting shaped plates. For entree we had egg net and duck rolls, and marron with caviar and eggplant salad. The duck rolls were nice but unfortunately there was a little too much chili in the eggplant salad, to the point that I could not taste any of the other flavours. Mains were duck red curry which was superb and pork hock which unfortunately was more fat than pork. Desert was key lime tart with 'vanilla bean' ice cream which I suspect was actually just vanilla ice cream from a tub. As I said, however, a nice, fresh take on modern Thai
For the 1hr 15min that we were at Nahm Thai, we had three different waitpeople approach our table to encourage us to order our meals 'so the kitchen could prepare.' Service was friendly & prompt, with food arriving faster than Hans Cafe, but I think it was to do with the fact they wanted our table.
The feel of the restaurant is cosy and intimate, however due to the limited space, tables are close together making it hard to hear your dinner companions. Decor is clean and simple with nicely set tables.
Overall:
I feel like Nahm Thai priorities quantity for quality. Double booking tables on a Saturday night meant that my partner and I (who love taking our time when perusing the menu) were literally told we had to leave by 8.15, giving us 1 hour and 15minures to eat 3 entrees, 2 mains, 2deserts & a bottle of wine. As I hurriedly ate my meal (with a line of 10 waiting customers eying up our table) I wondered how much better the meal would have tasted if I were actually permitted the time to enjoy eating it.
