Welcome to Pancakes at Carillon

Crepes with sour cream and mushrooms, pockets of tender chicken in a creamy white wine sauce and crusted with parmesan cheese, Scotch fillet steaks, Burgers, Nachos and it that's not enough, wait until you see the sweets. Fluffy buttermilk pancakes surrounded by fresh strawberries or blueberries or dark sherries soaked in a brandy sauce around two chocolate pancakes or delicate crepes around our special cream cheese, filling surrounded by raspberry couli... I've been coming here for years and I love it. I've only ever had one dish though, the all day breakfast. It consists of two fluffy pancakes with whipped butter, an egg and bacon. I ordered it today with crispy bacon and the egg over easy, and although it seems a bit weird to rave about bacon and eggs, it really couldn't have been cooked more perfectly. The pancakes are beautiful, the whipped butter is absolutely divine and for someone who likes a lot of maple syrup the giant bottle on the table is great. I think it was about twelve dollars too so it's pretty good value. There's a pretty extensive kids menu too and my daughter loved her pancake with chocolate sauce, icecream and sprinkles.
The service was friendly and food was served quickly.
There's certainly nothing trendy about this restaurant but it has a definite warmth and charm. Also there's probably not too many places where you can listen to Phil Collins while you eat, thank god. Lucky the food's so good.
Overall:
Seems like most of the menu is devoted to savoury pancake meals which I've never tried, and to be honest don't really like the idea of. All I can say is that if you fancy a really good breakfast, or just a really good pancake, this is the place to come.
Need a feed before shopping so thought we pop in here. The wife and myself shared the wedges and chicken caesar salad. Wedges were not golden brown but still lovely and had sour cream and sweet chilli as condiments. Chicken Caesar was lovely. Chicken was grilled nicely and lettuce was not limp or half dead considering it was a Sunday. Salad dressing was adequate without drowning the lettuce or bacon. Croutons looked a bit oily but were crunchy.
For desserts, we had the Black Forest pancake. Divine! We were so engrossed in eating it, we totally forgot about maple syrup. The cherries were a good size serving and complimented the pancakes very well. Now only if we could hold the whipped cream... ...
Service was fast and efficient. Wait staff ensure we had what we got, even making sure our young tyrant got a fork and spoon so that he could help us demolish the food. Not fussed about us changing from a table to the booth. Appreciate that the wait staff enquire about when we want the pancake out.
Air-con was a bit erratic I reckon, so sometimes we could actually smell the grease and oil from the kitchen. Going to the toilet was suffocating as I think the walk from the restaurant to the toilet, there was no ventilation at all.

How can anybody go once and say that they would never go back again? Pancakes anytime for the family and me. In fact, even the mains are pretty good. Though I would probably suggest going on a weekday for better serves as the wife recall that the wedges were more and crunchier. All in all, deserves to visit time and again to satisfy our sweet tooth or pre-fuelling for shopping.
Overall:
My partner and I went here for a quick bite to eat while doing some late night Chrissy shopping in the city. We had the nachos to share for starters which were thoroughly enjoyable and I had the fisherman's crepes for my main. These were really quite disappointing - lots of sauce in the pancakes but not a hell of a lot of seafood. The sauces on top of the pancakes - cocktail and hollandaise - were very overpowering and way too much for the dish. I really should have had a dessert pancake for dinner instead, as I know that these are divine!!
Overall:
ABSOLUTLY DIVINE!!! Certainly the best pancakes in Australia second best after the pancakes house in Chicago. I went there few times for a beaky with my boyfriend and we tried a few different pancakes. We had the strawberry pancakes with the home made strawberry sauce cream and ice cream and I must say Iâ’m still dreaming of it. We then tried pancakes with spiced apples which was good, but I wouldn’t take it again I found that the apples were a bit over cooked. The banana choc pancake very good but yet not excellent, prolly just cuz i don’t like the taste of cooked bananas. And finally my ever favourite honey pancakes with cream and ice cream, simple but yet absolutely effective! Also make sure you try their juice they are 100% fruit, absolutely great as well as the ice chocolate eheh a favourite of mine :P Lots of chocolate sauce ice cream and cream...so YUM
The ambience it's really nice it reminds me of a more elegant version of an American diner.
Definitely a place to visit!

While in the city recently, wanted a late breakfast but all the places we found were either not open, packed or had unappetising and very limited menus. This was our second stop as the first place seemed determined not to serve us. By the time we got here it was about 11am, so brekkie became brunch. I had a main of fisherman's crepes, two large but delicate crepes rolled around big prawns and chunks of fish in a sauce. It was served with huge dollops of seafood and hollandaise (?) sauces and salad. My companion had the hot apple and dried fruit pancake stack with ice-cream which she enjoyed. While neither meal was a gastronomic event, both were appetising and well made, and certainly hit the spot. What more do you want?
