Overall:
After trying on several occasions to unsuccessfully book a table we finally got to give this one a go.
A well deserved and rare night out for the parents (6 weeks post birth!) we were hoping for something romantic but came to the wrong place for that!
Very busy, bustling and packed with diners it was the opposite of romantic which is still ok if you are looking for something more lively. I guess it was Christmas time so it was bound to be busy.
The service was...standard. The waitress was obviously under the pump and trying hard but a few minor mistakes were made to ours and another close table. Oh well!
We started with Crumbed Calamari which was the best I have had and has totally converted me to the stuff which I have tried regularly but never really LOVED until now. Crunchy but with a soft and velvety centre, not in the least chewy or stringy.
Next we went for the Whole Crayfish - unadulterated and divine! Simply the best way to dine on Cray. It was succulent and the envy of other diners! Making sure to take our time we demolished every morsel and joining it with a Caesar salad we were quite stuffed at it's completion. No room at all for deserts but they didn't really entice enough to warrant gluttony anyway.
Overall a good night out (especially for the long weary parents) and despite a few hiccups came close to its reputation, especially on it's food.
Just remember to book long in advance on weekends and don't look for the quiet, dark corner!
