  • We ordered the grilled calamari and the chili mussels with some fries. The chili mussels were the best I've had in Perth (and I've eaten a lot). What was particularly good about the dish was the broth/sauce in which the mussels were served. It had a good, rich consistency which was well seasoned. It was just so tasty!
The squid was a little overcooked but very flavoursome. The accompanying salad was also fresh and a good size. Chips were hot and not too oily.

  • This place is an institution so I guess they can't do much about the decor. However, one improvement that would make a huge difference would be to upgrade the chairs; at the moment they look like cheap and nasty canteen chairs! Other than that the ambience is good. Kinda kitsch but in a cool way!

  • We came here because we were using an entertainment book, but I do think we'll be back as the food was good, rustic Italian comfort food. Wouldn't come here on a date but for a fun, casual meal with friends its great. Prices are also very reasonable.

  • We have been to Ruoccos afew times and always enjoyed the meals so for our sons birthday we made a booking for Tuesday evening. We could not have been more disappointed.
We were seated in the middle of the restaurant with people coming and going through the front door to have a smoke outside. The food was very disappointing.....the calamari rings were like eating rubber bands but the worse bit was our son ordered Lasagne. He had to wait while we all started eating as the food was getting cold....when he finally received his Lasagne it had PEAS in it. Who has ever had Lasagne with peas in it???? What traditional part of Italy makes it with peas. I'm afraid we won't be going back.

  • I have been to Ruoccos a couple of times and each time the food has been slightly disappointing. I had a chicken and pasta dish which was fine but didnt really impress (good size portion though) my friend had osso bucco which was very oily the accompanying wine helped! on my second visit the food was of a similar standard but the overall experience was poor.

To give them a fair review though the pizza is some of the best around if you like real stone baked pizza.

  • I will be harsh but fair. If you go to Ruoccos on a busy night do not expect fast or efficient service. The staff seem to be working hard but if it was not my table having late food or wrong orders it was a table nearby. Perhaps a bad night?

  • Overall i had high expectations for such a well known restaurant but the dining experience has been a let down twice, i wont personally go back. The staff are friendly, the prices are ok and the take away pizza is great.

  • Best authentic woodfired pizza in Perth, end of story. Ruocco's is really popular and can get really busy, but it's still well-worth the wait. Pity it's so far away from where I live!

  • Went here for dinner tonight and we enjoyed it very much.

I had the bruschetta for entree and it was delicious, fresh tomato and garlic, perfect. My partner had the Baby Squid and enjoyed it immensely.

For main I had the grilled Barramundi with roasted potatoes and salad. The fish was cooked to perfection. My partner had smoked salmon ravioli with creamy white wine sauce and said the sauce was delicious but could not really taste the smoked salmon. It was also a little heavy but still quite tasty.

We shared a lemon/lime tart for dessert and it was rich and yummy. The coffee was good too.

All in all, it was a lovely evening (although a little loud - but this is a family restaurant, I wouldn't recommend it for an intimate dinner) and the staff were so friendly and very efficient. It is the best service I have had in a long time. The total cost with the Entertainment card was around $68, really great value. We will most certainly return soon.

  • Took my partner there for the first time the other night. IT was busy however we didn’t make a reservation so definitely do that if you intend on going. My partner and I are pizza fanatics so we tried the pizzas and they were fantastic. Great taste and size. My partners hard to please and he was happy with them. The service was great, very friendly and welcoming. This is now one of our favourite restaurants.

  • Me and my family went there recently just for a casual dining. I suggest you make reservations because the place is always busy.

Food: This wasn't our first time to this restaurant. The food is great, and the servings are generous. I don't really have a favourite, but we always order the risotto.

Ambience: A little bit too crowded and hectic (but hey, it's saturday night). We got a table near the front door where people also lined up to wait for tables and their takeaways. Not very comfortable at all. They have alfresco area too for those who prefer outdoor.

Service: Waitpersons are quite attentive. One of them filled up our water without being asked. They are pretty friendly too.

Overall, it was a good experience and one of our favourites in Freo.

  • A work colleague and I had lunch at Ruocco’s on Wednesday, June 27. I had been for dinner before and really enjoyed it, so was keen when he suggested lunch there. It was absolutely outstanding. I had the minestrone soup, followed by a magnificent grilled seafood dish. Sam had garlic prawns for entrée, and the veal scalloppini for main, thoroughly enjoying both. Servings were large, prices were reasonable and the food was of a quality that leaves many pretentious spots for dead. Drink prices are very reasonable, and the service was friendly, quick and efficient. Highly recommended!

  • Great Italian food, generous servings and reasonably priced with pizzas that we consider to be up with the best around.

Service is friendly and generally efficient; one gets the feeling the staff are genuinely interested in customer satisfaction.

Decor is suburban Italian cafe with a number of rooms and nice high ceilings so it does not feel crowded or noisy when busy.

  • We are always looking around for really good food at reasonable prices and Ruocco's would be the best so far.

The squid is 'to die for' and just about everything else we have tried so far has been exceptional. I especially enjoy eating real home made pasta.

This is a typical Italian family restaurant (decor & all) with atmosphere and sense of being a part of the extended family.

    Great food & local wines.

  • Went to Ruocco's for dinner last night and apart from them trying to kill my mum, had a great meal. The service was pretty poor and the meals took a while to come, and it was really noisy, but they were really busy (especially for a Wednesday) so I guess it was to be expected.

We started with a baby squid salad and garlic bread, both were great and the squid was very tender, simply done in garlic and lemon juice. It was so hard to choose between the mains as there were so many things that sounded great, and the prices were really reasonable for the serving size (only gripe that specials on the board had no prices). I had the capretto (goat) which was fantastic, in a thick tomato sauce, served with roasted potatoes and the meat just fell off the bone. Round the table we had osso bucco, pizza, chilli mussels, steak, spaghetti marinara and calzone and everyone loved their meal (and I tried a few of them and they were all great!) and the spinach salad we shared was fantastic.

So the only low light was when they gave mum a meat calzone containing anchovies instead of the vegetable one she ordered. Being very allergic to seafood in any form luckily she realised that something was dodgy before she’d eaten too much (she is okay!). To the credit of the staff, they were very apologetic, bringing out a complimentary salad for her to eat while they cooked her another calzone, and giving us choccies at the end of the meal. Could have been a disaster but they really did all they could to make up for the mistake. I’d definitely go back again to try some of the other yummy meals, but not if I wanted a quick or quiet, romantic meal!
