Party of 8 for dinner on a Monday night. Interesting but not authentic as it could be.More Tex-Mex that Mexican - same as other reviewer mentioned. I had the Chicken enchiladas which were filled with an odd mix of shredded chicken, corn and onion. Personally I can make better enchiladas at home. The bread (Pan) was fabulous- very different with chilli flakes running through it. Margaritas on the other had were absolutely fabulous.

Service:

Good - had one new female waitress that took a bit of time to get the orders.. they were friendly.. but not overly so. Brought everything quite quickly.

Ambience:

Great latino music and interesting wall motifs. Unfortunate hole in the floor behind my partners chair. Tables need a good clean as gaps in the wood are a bit dodgy. Wyoming number plates on the wall - dont know waht the relevance of them was.

Overall:
A good place for drinks and entree's but not the best example of authentic cuisine.

Santa Fe offer affordable, tasty Tex-Mex food which is enjoyable but not much more than merely adequate. Whilst the entree Jalapeno poppers were excellent, the main courses were generic, inoffensive and a little bland. Judging by the other reviews here, and my visits to other Tex-Mex restaurants in Perth, this is what a lot of customers want... but as a dedicated foodie and a chef I can't help but feel how much better the food would be with a little love, a little pizazz, a little passion. (How can you make chilli con carne without so much as a hint of chilli, and not have any decent hot sauce to offer on the side?)

Having said that, you can't fault the mind-bendingly extensive tequila menu, and apparantly the cocktails are excellent!

If you're looking for something cheap and filling the food is fine and portions are large. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine you would be better off buying some Old El Paso ingredients from the supermarket and making it yourself. I ordered the chicken fajitas which came on a luke-warm (not sizzling) platter. The chicken breast and vegetables looked and tasted as though they had been re-heated in the microwave and there were no fried onions as is traditional with fajitas. There didn't seem to be any seasoning at all and the result was edible but very bland. My partner ordered the beef burritos which were much the same - large portions but tasteless.

Service:

One of my pet hates is to be left standing just inside the door of a restaurant waiting to be seated while wait staff walk past you and ignore you. This is how our visit to Santa Fe started, which was a shame because otherwise the service was efficient if not overly friendly.

Ambience:

The ambience is welcoming and very colourful though this restaurant has a tendency to attract big groups so it can get very noisy. One tip for the restaurant - put a self-closer on the toilet door as the smell of disinfectant coming from the toilets was overpowering.

Overall:
Cheerful ambience, cheap food, large portions but disappointing quality and taste.

This place is the essence of awesome.

Reasonably priced with biiiiiiiiiiiiiig servings, make sure you buy the poppers as over people have mentioned, deep-fried jalapenos with cheese in the middle - I could eat them all day if not for the mouth and stomach ulcers they would surely cause!

Last time I visited Santa Fe it was just excellent. The service was efficient and super-friendly, the cocktails were divine and the food was out of this world! The Jalapeno Poppers were fiery but awesome and the entree-size nachos were so delicious but there was too much to finish! Our burritos were so incredibly tasty, and again, we were struggling to finish. We came away with very full tummies and big grins on our faces. When I crave Mexican, I go to Santa Fe - they are brilliant. I'd also like to mention the atmosphere - it's really fun! It can get a bit noisy - so maybe not the best for a romantic dinner, but it would be well suited to catching up with friends or if you are just looking for great food in a casual environment.

Finally had a good meal here Friday (before the rugby). The ambience is always good here before a game and this time the food matched it!

Service was fast and friendly, the strawberry daiquiris delicious and our chicken and steak fajitas were tasty (but very large servings and impossible to finish!)

Fresh fruit Margaritas and Cocktails galore! A great start to a fantastic boozy night out in Subiaco!

Santa Fe’s inexpensive selection of tacos and copious amount of happy-hour cocktails on Tuesdays is an irresistible treat for anyone chucking a ‘sickie’ on Wednesdays.

Poppers, little jalapenos stuffed with creamy cheese and deep fried, is to die for. Nothing beats slamming down these little buggers with mouthful of cold amber.

Not the place intimate dining, but is definitely a go for meals/drinks before a massive night out. Ole!
