In my opinion this is the BEST Thai restaurant in Perth!! The food here is always fantastic and they do the best Tom Yum Soup I've had outside of Thailand. Other favourites include the Plaa Rad Prik (special fish curry), the red beef curry and the chicken cashew stirfry. Everything tastes so fresh and clean which is just how Thai food should be.

Service:

The service here is very friendly and attentive. I went to a friend's birthday dinner here a few weeks ago and they went out of their way to accommodate our numerous requests - and her big b'day cake!

Ambience:

Typical Thia restaurant but with a cosy feel.

Overall:
I have been going to this restaurant since it opened and keep returning again and again. The chef ensures that all the dishes are consistently delicious. In my opinion this is a tough restaurant to beat.

We shared the mushroom balls (not to my liking) and veg spring rolls (not overly flavoursome) for entree. For mains we went for the tofu/veg red curry, stir-fry cashew nuts with tofu and steamed rice. They were both really really tasty with loads of cashew nuts. Couldn't fit in dessert.

Service:

Very polite and pleasant.

Ambience:

Needs a lick of paint.

Overall:
Cheap and cheerful mid week dine-out

As a group of 8, we decided to order Banquet no. 2 (just easier!). The thing that struck me (as a first time diner at the restaurant) was the array of brightly coloured vegetables in the dishes, giving an impression of freshness which was matched in taste. I also love the fresh herbs in Thai food and was not disappointed, as fresh herbs were used generously. The true hit of the night was the fish dish 'Pla Rad Prik'. There was unanimous agreement that it was the best dish of the night and even though the fish is deep fried, there was no taste of fat/oil. The only disappointing dish was the Green Chicken Curry which was a bit oily and, for a few of us who are regular Thai eaters, lacking in bite.

Service:

The service was fine. Our food came out in a timely manner. Although the restaurant was full, we never felt we were 'competing' to get service, it was available when needed.

Ambience:

This is a lovely little restaurant. Although the seating arrangements could best be described as 'cosy', it never felt like there were 'too many' people in the restaurant.

Overall:
Even though we ordered a banquet, the serving sizes were ample and we could not finish everything that was served to us. The whole table seemed very satisfied with all of the food that came out. Be prepared that for a large group like ours, on the busiest night of the week, you may be asked to pay a deposit.

I go for dinner here on a regular basis and have to say my favourite is the Jungle Curry with roti for mains while I try and have something different for entrees on every visit.

The service is always great and the staff are very friendly.

Also the restaurant is BYO and although we usually just take a bottle of wine and buy beer, I've seen people take all kinds of drinks including cans of scotch, etc.

Recommend this place for a regular meal if you live nearby.

Another delicious experience at Saowanee’s Place. This time we decided to go with a couple of friends and experiment more dishes.

We had a serving of spring rolls as entrée, a vegetarian pad thai, tom kah soup, yellow chicken curry, pla rad prik and a salt and pepper type of squid.

The tom kah was smooth and delicious as well as the yellow curry.

It was the first time we tried the pla rad prik and we were not disappointed it was instead the favourite dish together with the squid. The pla rad prik was described as “deep fried fish filet topped with curry paste, coconut cream and lime leaf”.

As previously mentioned also the squid was fantastic, soft and covered in a tasty batter.

I like the feeling of the restaurant it’s very relaxing and elegant.

The service is also excellent, being a family restaurant they all care very about the customers, the food arrived promptly and the waitress was happy to assist our requests.

We will certainly go back again to this delicious thai place.

Yesterday night me and my boyfriend decided to try this highly acclaimed Thai restaurant, and I must say we weren’t disappointed.

As starters we had the Tom Kah soup, it was deliciously creamy with a delicate flavour and delicious chicken; my boyfriend said it was the best Tom Kah he has ever had. I had the mix appetizers which consisted of a wonton, spring roll, chicken toast and fish cake I particularly enjoyed the spring roll it had a fresh and sweet flavour, it was yummy. We then shared a pad thai which was the high light of the night, it was so good, sweet and a bit tomatoey seriously the best pad thai I have ever had. We also had two curries the yellow chicken curry, which I found amazingly good and full of flavour, and the massaman beef curry, again an excellent dish; although I must say that since the beef had been previously braised the flavours of the marinate did not really enter in the meat. We also had one roti, which was good but nothing compared to the one I usually eat at my favourite Indian restaurant.

Overall a great experience which did not disappoint me. We will definitely go back to try their duck red curry and some of their desserts we were too full to try this time.

I got take away from there a couple of weeks but I do love Thai restaurants that have that old fashioned kind of appearance.

The prawn crackers-I didn't even know you could get flavoured ones but I am glad I found out because I couldn’t stop eating them and thank god I have found a hot and spicy green curry dish. I really recommend that dish for people who like it spicy!

Would go there but this time to dine.

Not all Thai restaurants are the same and ignore anyone who tells you otherwise. This place has to be one of the best Thai restaurants in Perth if it's quality food you're after.

I've been numerous times, tried so many of their dishes (including take-away) and never have I been disappointed.

Ok so they make a mean green chicken curry and a beautiful Pad Thai, but hell, who can't. Explore the menu a bit and you'll see an array of meals that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. For those who love Thai food, don't miss out on coming here.

Very good Thai food, reasonably priced. With 6 of us we sampled 6 mains, 3 appetisers, and some roti. The red curry beef was very good indeed, and there was a squid with pepper dish that's worth going back for. I'm not a big fan of fish cakes, but these were some of the lightest I've sampled. Unfortunately we were there on an extremely warm and humid evening and the evaporative air conditioning wasn't coping. Despite that, it was a nice evening and the bill came to just under $25 per person.
