Food:

Breakfast menu- ordered lightly -the yogurt, muesli and fruit. Good muesli no added sugar and lots of goodies. Tiny serve of yogurt and milk, average fresh fruit. Woeful coffee- have never ever had a good one there.

Service:

Slow, although we were a pretty large group and it was busy with lots of other tables.

Ambience:

Nice in the garden on a nice day but the music was very loud where we were sitting.

Overall:
Very average, doubt I would go back.

I had the Cajun Caesar Salad the other day whilst out with some work mates. Very fresh and satisfying (the chicken was grilled quite crispy, but that's how I like it). Others had the salmon caesar salad and foccacia. Everyone enjoyed their food and thought it hit the spot.

Service:

For an "order at the counter" place, this venue wasn't bad. Food was served quickly (although some of us had to wait a little longer than others) and plates taken when meal was finished (I give this place extra points for NOT stacking plates on table in front of us!) Friendly service with a smile

Ambience:

The back of the restaurant is located in an old nursery, it has lots of green around, quite shady, but also has some sunny spots. It really is like an oasis in the city and quite secret (hidden away from the main street). Apart from a nearby table's annoying whining toddler, ambience was great!

Overall:
Would definitely return when I need a chilled lunch with friends.

The food is great. Brunch is the best time to go with the option of either the breakfast or lunch menu depending on your fancy. My favourite is the salmon au Florentine. There is a great vegetarian option available too. The seafood platter is also good value for money.

I had my birthday there a year ago, we all had a great time. The only negative aspect was that they charged me a service fee for the no. of people i booked although less people actually turned up. Otherwise on normal occasions when you order at the counter, they are fine.

The secret garden is where you truly have a meal in a secret location, lost to the hustle of the world. Most people that i take there will comment on how hidden the garden area is from the street that they would not know it existed. I guess now that the secret is out, loads more people will be haunting the joints with the locals, which is great!

I wanted to try somewhere different for my birthday lunch and found the secret garden on this site. The reviews sounded amazing and from experiencing it myself now, the reviews do the place justice.

The setting is amazing. It really is a secret garden. We sat at a large table under a beautiful tree. There was a clothesline above us with vines wrapped around it and it was quirky but so beautiful. You have to order at the counter which is kind of disappointing but i guess it is considered a cafe. The chips are amazing. I do not know what they do to them but they are so golden and crunchy and thick and fresh. Yum. We had a portion to share but it wasnt enough! We had to get more. There were 10 people and we all had different things and were satisfied. I had the caesar salad which was actually kind of average but everything else was great. There are daily specials which you can browse at on the way through. Very nice home made looking food. The staff were casually dressed to the point where it looked really strange, like we were being served by some teen who just walked in off the street. The iced chocolate was the best I have had in Perth. Lots of cream, ice cream and chocolate, beautifully presented. Leaves kept falling onto our table and into our food which was so lovely. Felt like we really were in a secret garden. Was a wonderful birthday lunch.

Wow what a great weekend in Perth for food.

Dropped by for a late Sunday lunch after a recommendation from a friend (and then checking the reviews ;)

It was raining but we were in a brief period of sunlight so we sat outside under the umbrellas in the chilled out garden.

I went for the moussaka and my beau decided on the chicken and asparagus crepe. The sides consisted of salad, vegies, mashed potato and chips. Wow it was huge and so wholesome and warming on a rainy autumn day.

A flat white in a mug and a fresh made juice cocktail were the perfect refreshments and pick me up.

Highly recommended and somewhere that I will be returning to very soon, quality, fresh produce and great service will always bring me back...

I don't know this for certain, but there are definite Greek influences in the food at Secret Garden. Their chicken patitsio is simply divine, as are their baked stuffed vegetables and moussaka. Side serves are generous and extend beyond your average green salad- boiled potatoes and kalamata olives dotted through steamed vegetables with crispy just perfect chips (arguably the best I have had in a long, long time!). Try the steak sandwich and be prepared to take half of this colossal feast home in a doggy bag!

They stock a wide range of wine from the Margaret river region, and though not a coffee drinker I am told that they make a mean cuppa’ too. The cakes aren't their strong point although they do make a decent lemon tart.

Sit back in the lovely garden out back and simply enjoy it for what it is, a gorgeous setting accompanied by lovely, generously portioned food and ideally- great company.

Having eaten at the Secret Garden on many occasions I feel fully qualified to review it.

Whether for an intimate, romantic lunch with a loved one or a fun mid week lunch with a giggling gaggle of girlfriends, I have experienced both with the same level of food, service and enjoyment.

The setting is exceptional, tucked away in South Perth the name says it all.

Traditional home-cooked Italian food, you can feel the love in every mouthful. A personal favourite is the Mousaka followed by a choc-nut pie for sweets.

Try it soon, you won't be disappointed.
