The food was delicious. For entree we had the bread and dips which came with a truffle butter and 3 dips. The truffle butter was a bit hard to spread as it must have just come out of the fridge but had a wonderful flavour. For Mains I had the duck and my partner the kangaroo special. Both meals were succulent and very tasty. The servings are quite small so we had room for dessert. I had the balsamic strawberries & ice cream which was a delicious combination and my partner had sticky date pudding - his favourite and he rated it very highly. Only disappointments - the small menu & lack of the tasting plate we have had here once before. We were so looking forward to it and everyone raves about it so can't think why they'd take it off.

Service:

The service was excellent but then again we were the only people in the restaurant for about 45 minutes. We had booked for 6:30pm and had the full attention of the wait staff. However, as more people arrived we still received the same attentive service so no complaints from us.

Ambience:

The restaurant lay out is very nice. The lighting's a little bright but warm enough. Once it started to fill up it was still easy to carry on a conversation and not have to yell across the table. We were seated next to a wall with a delightful painting and near the windows so a bit away from others.

Overall:
I have had wonderful food & service each of the two times I have come here but the lack of a wider selection on the menu and no tasting plate does leave me wondering whether I'll go back. We did receive a voucher for free bottle of wine next time we return & we had the entertainment card to discount our meal this time. However, I'm not sure it is enough to draw me back to pay for pricey, small servings and limited choice. I am not a creature of habit but if something is good why change it?

Meals were gorgeous. The pork belly was something else! Would definitely come back for this one, not for the calorie conscious, but full of flavour.

Service:

Service was prompt and professional. Staff were not very friendly, but they did their jobs well. Personalised service is always my preference.

Ambience:

The place was pretty empty, but the decor sets a nice scene, loved the choice of music and tables were at a good distance apart so you werent worried about banging a chair into someone else.

Overall:
Would definitely recommend this place to friends, decent wine list, great food and a generally satisfying meal.

We started in the cocktail lounge, enjoying a delightful martini, then sashayed through to our table a little while afterwards.

This is a busy place, and although a little loud at times, there is a lovely ambience and the staff seem to really care about the level of attention given to us.

All in all. Loved it! Great food, wine and service.

I'll be back.

My partner and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had at a restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly from the moment we walked in the door. When taking my booking over the phone, they asked if I would prefer a more secluded area of the restaurant and it was great - away from the front door and we were able to have a conversation without having to yell over the top of other tables. We shared the tasting plate for entree - a selection of marinated fetta, red throat emperor, pumpkin and sweet potato frittata and grilled polenta with tomato. Oh my god - it was possibly the best fetta I've ever tried! That left us wanting more! My partner ordered the beef fillet which was cooked to absolute perfection (I know because I tried it), and I ordered the Tasmanian salmon with sticky soy. It was delicious! The waiters were very attentive to our needs, always topping up our water and wine when they walked past. We decided that we couldn't leave without trying the dessert so my partner had a cocktail (Bleeding Hearts) that was recommended by the waitress. It was so chunky he needed to eat it with a spoon. It was to die for! I had the fresh strawberries served with vodka cream and warm white chocolate sauce - sensational! We will definitely be making a few more trips back to this restaurant even though it's on the other side of town. If you're looking for a cheap night out though, probably not a good one - rather pricey but definitely worth every cent!

Went out with my sister last week for a pre dinner show. Service was fast, waitperson was polite and friendly. It is a nice modern style restaurant. Beverage menu for both alcoholic and non alcoholic were extensive. We had garlic bread for starters and I had the fish while my sister had the duck. We also had nice golden mashed potatoes for our side. The side though was forgotten but it was only a minor detail as the waiterperson was very prompt to address the delay and we got our mash quickly, double the portion on what he described. We didn't have a chance to have dessert as we were in a rush to go to the show but we did have a look at the menu and said we will order next time.

Last night I took a friend out to dinner at Social. Being a nice evening we decided to dine outdoors 'alfresco'. Even though I had made a booking for this they had set us a table indoors. They were however very happy to move us back to the outdoors eating area.

We started with a tasting plate for 2, which was ordinary, however I believe that they should provide more crackers to go with the large bowl of feta, chorizo and the pate.

For mains I had Duck leg Confit which was beautifully cooked and the meat was succulent, however, I found the glaze/sauce rather salty and believe that this would be suited to a slightly sweeter sauce. My dining partner ate the Osso Bucco which came recommended from the waiter. He had a very generous serving of this, however, he only ate a third advising me it was rather dry for Osso Bucco, and perhaps cooked too long.

We shared a bottle of Penfolds which made for a very good choice, but rather overpriced at $88 a bottle. A little disappointing as the Social website states they have an extensive and affordable wine list?? I would suggest more local 'known' wines.

The service was very good and the waiters extremely friendly and not 'in your face'.

Overall: I was happy with the service however believe that the food was far over-rated and maybe we should have stuck to simpler dishes. Maybe this restaurant is best suited to cocktails and canapés, or lazy lunches, and a little music in the alfresco area would be nice in the background to take peoples minds off the cars that shoot by.

This place is a beauty! We tried it out for lunch last Friday, and our expectations were well and truly exceeded.

My partner had a main course fish dish, and I couldn't resist the Peking Duck with pancakes. Both dishes were superb and very well presented. We accompanied the meals with a Roma tomato salad (also delightful)

The place itself is bright and open, and there's an interesting array of wine bottles in little alcoves (if you're interested in wine, anyway!). There's a reasonable wine list, with a few available by the glass (I'd like to see more).

The service was very friendly, yet professional, especially the maitre de (well, the lady who appeared to be running the place, anyway) who looked after us very well.

Not a cheap place (food was $60 for two, plus drinks) but I keep coming back to that old saying "you get what you pay for". Imagine what I could get with a Lotto win :)

Linda has done a fantastic job with this restaurant.

We went there on Saturday night for a work function of approx 30 people for Xmas in July, and I was handed a glass of champagne as soon as I walked in the door.

The restaurant itself is very modern and nicely set up with a bar section to start off the night and then over to your table to start eating. The service was absolutely fantastic - the food was all brought out at the correct times, and being a large group, it was all brought out at the same time which I was very impressed with, as we all got to eat together.

Being a work function, it was a set menu with 2 choices for entrees, mains & desserts. For entree I had the lemon pepper squid with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. For mains, I had lamb shanks.. or should I say Shank... it was one big shank. Very nice & very tender.
Desert was sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce which was also very yummy.

Overall - I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a function. Will certainly be going back to try it for a nice meal with my hubby. As persnickety put it "they even have soft toilet paper"... :)

The service here is absolutely spot on. The food is cooked to perfection and the prices are very reasonable in my opinion. There were about 40 people for a work function and it started in the bar area - when the bar staff actually came out from behind the bar to make sure everyone had drinks, he even came around to deliver our drinks and we were standing right next to the bar. Linda Ross obviously runs a tight ship and has all her staff trained so well. We didnt have cocktails on the menu for the function but the fist time I came here we drank cocktails and let me tell you, this place is worth visiting just for a drink! The cocktails are divine!

We sat down to the set menu dinner, for entree I (and many others) had the Lemon Pepper Squid served with palm sugar & lime dipping sauce which was scrumptious, luckily with a generous amount of squid! Many of us also chose the Lamb Shank on mustard mash, wilted spinach & Shiraz jus which was falling off the bone - the mash i must admit wasn’t the best but that’s my only complaint for the whole night. The fact the meals were so tasty and hot and served at almost exactly the same time for so many people was a great demonstration of the experience they have with functions. For dessert I had the Sticky Date Pudding with warm butterscotch sauce & vanilla ice cream which made me very pleased as I LOVE sticky date pudding!

The experience was fantastic as a whole - drinks were replenished quickly, a nice gap between the courses and the fact that Linda herself is so hands on and involved with everything is wonderful too.

The modern artwork yet romantic traditional use of lots of reds make the ambiance perfect for any occasion - HIGHLY recommended for a work function or a quiet meal for two.

When I arrived at Social (Sunday Night), it was very busy. There was a Wildcats function on and with the amount of people and kids running around, it was killing the romantic mood.

We placed our order and by the time we got our bottle of wine, the wildcats groupies and kids had all left making the ambience much more pleasant.

I ordered the Shanghai roast duck woodfired pizza with mushrooms, shallots & plum sauce and my partner ordered the tabil marinated chicken breast with tunisian tomatoes, spinach & goats cheese.
The food was beautiful and interesting. I have never seen a chinese woodfired pizza before and the result was fantastic. The chicken breast dish was also superb, especially the tunisian tomatos!

I would definately come here again, however if it was on a sunday night i would book for after 8pm to avoid any potential sporting club function that may have been booked.
