  • Between 4 of us we had the satay sticks, Nasi Campur, nasi goreng special and the "chicken maryland" dish. all were under $20. Everyone was satisfied by the quality and quantity of the food presented. Serving size was ample but not as huge as others have exaggerated (everyone cleared their plates). The rendang was a lot wetter than i would expect, but was super tender and delicious. Satay sticks were rustic and tasty but lacked spice for them to be the "best ever". Overall the food was satisfying but not sensational.

  • The owner was our waiter for the evening. He was pretty quirky and bordering on rude-making comments like "do you deserve this food?" before being served our meals. Our food took an hour to arrive despite us ordering at 710pm and the restaraunt not being super busy.

  • The restauraut is situated in a old corner shop in a quiet street in Mt Lawley and has heaps of character. Others have mentioned the dim lighting-this is true but probably works in its favour.

  • Ok food and fairly cheap but this was not the awesome local restaurant we were hoping for, as we live only 2 min walk from sweet java. We will not be going back unfortunately due to the average quality of food and poor service. I'm certain others will have experiences to the contrary; recieving their meal qiuckly with friendly service. But sadly we did not see this.

  • I had the chicken stirfry and it was very tasty. Ate it all despite being full. The satay was the best I've ever tasted!

  • Quaint little restaurant that is the sort of place you would go with friends for a great laugh. The owner is a little kooky but the service is great and food was delicious! My first experience at an Indonesian restaurant but I was impressed! Prices were reasonable too.

  • This was a casual dining experience, with prompt friendly service, and the ambience was great. The meal was delicious, and very good value for your money. We had a variety of dishes within our group. Quite a popular venue, therefore booking in advance is a must.

  • Sweet Java is a small family run restaurant. The menu is not extensive, but the food is traditional East Javanese cuisine and as such is not overly spicy hot. The beef rendang is the best that you will find anywhere in Perth (normally served as part of nasi campur, but if you ask it will be served as a course by itself). Service is good but as it is a very small and popular restaurant you should make a booking for most evenings.
