Food:

after a long day of wine quaffing we were keen to find somewhere cosy with food. As we were meant to meet some friends here later we decided to try out the tapas. We ordered almost all of the tapas selection on the menu (minus the large meals). Unfortunately they had sold out of the arancini. The sea salt fries where crispy but rather salty. The calamari was super salty (more than the fries), in fact everything which came out was super salty. It was all very tasty but the extreme saltyness of it all had us drinking more water than wine.

Service:

most of our group where enjoying the selection of wines on offer, but as the designated driver for the night i had to stick to softer stuff. that been said the lady behind the bar was very unimpressed with having to make me a pot of tea (which was on the menu). aside from this the staff where great

Ambience:

cute funky little wine bar with mini beer garden out the back.

Overall:
we where there on a sat night and there was some great live music playing. as far as venues to on a sat night in Dunsborough. our other two options where the local Tavern (complete with police and no gumboots policy) and the other wine bar which was hosting a pyjama party. The Cape Wine Bar is definitely the funky option in town and if we're ever in town we'll be back

Headed here for a light meal knowing it offered some nice tapas goodies!
Funky little wine bar in the heart of dunsborough, quite small (about 20 tables) with a tiny beer garden area out the back. On the night we were there, a guy was singing with his guitar which was really nice and not too overpowering.

We ordered some drinks (many wines available by the glass) and also ordered one of the specials of the day a turkish mezze plate. It offered borek (which was more like spinach/filo parcels but still tasty), an eggplant dish (very yummy) and dolmades (rice was undercooked). I also tried the porcini risotto balls which were delicious. To complement our nibblies we shared a serve of the pork belly which came with a carrot/cabbage strudel. This dish was lovely and the combination of flavours divine.

The staff were very friendly and efficient and i would recommend checking out this wine bar if you are in the area.

Hooray! A fantastic start to our honeymoon with a late dinner at the Cape Wine Bar. Tired and somewhat grumpy after a long drive through rainy weather, we finally booked into our B&B in Yallingup. Our hostess kindly suggested the Cape Wine Bar as a good place for a light meal so off we went.

It was a Sunday night, so the place was about half full; we even bumped into a couple who were also staying at Wildwood Valley. The two blokes at the bar were very friendly, bringing out our drinks and a menu for their Sunday tapas bar. Weekdays they have a normal restaurant service but on weekends it seems they only do tapas and small dishes. Since we were only after something small, this suited us perfectly.

Although the choice isn't extensive, about 10 selections to choose from, each was different and provided the variety to cater to most tastes. We ordered about 6 of them, each being between $4-$8 in price. Rosemary sea salted chips, meatballs in napoli sauce, Cajun dusted calamari with aioli, roasted chicken on a truffle yoghurt...something, mandarin duck pancakes, and turkish bread and dips. All were so yummy, we would have gone back again if we'd had more time in Dunsborough.

The blokes behind the bar and the lady chef all seemed like very fun loving people who were happy to converse with us as well as the other patrons and share a joke or two. It made the place feel so casual and lively. The decor was also quite modern and nice, but it was definitely the people that made the atmosphere an enjoyable one.

So all up it cost about $45, including a fruit tingle cocktail which was very nicely done. Their cocktail menu looked very tempting but I think the first one was a bit too strong for me already!

Definitely on our list of things to come back to next time we're in the area!
