We decided on Indian for dinner on a Saturday night, and I had been receiving The Cove's menu in the mail for a while and decided it was time for Take Away, and we weren't disappointed.

We ordered Lamb Rogen Josh, Beef Vindaloo and a Chicken Jhal Frazi. It was all amazing, quite a large serve's with lots of meat. The Chicken one was surprising as I have never tired it before, very tasty.

We also ordered plain Naan which were large and very good.

Service:

Since we had takeaway I don't have much info on the service, but the staff on the phone when I ordered was friendly and at pick up it was excellent.

Ambience:

As soon as you walk in the smell is overwhelming in a good way.. mouth watering.. Layout is nice and looks great. After having a great takeaway we will defiantly be back for a dine in experience.

Overall:
Excellent Indian food.

I am definitely returning for my Indian fix here! Finally, I got to indulge in a long overdue Indian buffet. And am I glad hubby picked The Cove as I was not disappointed! There were not more than perhaps, fifteen diners at one time and we never came across more than a couple each time we went back to the buffet spread. The Cove is indeed an excellent choice for a Sunday night. Service was good and once seated, a basket of pappadums, bowl of mint chutney and carafe of water was swiftly brought out together with the wine list and buffet menu.

Now to the buffet. The salads were mainly raw / steamed vegies with yoghurt in a separate container and chick peas. I was a little disappointed with the accompaniments as I expected more pickles or chunky style chutney instead of the smooth liquid style chutney. The entrees consisted of 3 types of naan (I only had the garlic naan which was yummy), tandoori chicken (delicious) and the rest battered vegies, squid and fish. The only complain for the buffet would be that the battered food was overfried causing the fillings to be on the dry side.

The meat curries were deliciously mouth watering. I just loved them all ! There was the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken madras, lamb rogan josh, lamb korma, beef vindaloo and curry fish with basmati rice/briyani rice. It was just a varied smorgasboard of spices. I enjoyed the garlic naan with the curries as well. I can’t say that I had a favourite as they were all fantastic but only the beef vindaloo gave me a kick.
Among the vegetarian mains were palak paneer (spinah cooked with cheese) which was very interesting, never having it before. I always thought that this would be a heavy dish with the cheese but the texture of the cheese was like tofu and hence, quite light. The other offerings were a potato curry, mixed vegie curry, mushrooms with peas and dhall. Again quite tasty but the meats won hands down.

How stuffed we were already then before even sampling the desserts. The cut fruits of watermelon and honeydew melon were refreshing. The pavlova was surprisingly good; light and fluffy. The gulab jamuns I have never had before so could not make comparisons and was not bad. I like the kheer but that was filling and I had way too much. The mango pudding was my least favourite as I prefer the way the dim sum places make them. There was also ice-cream but I could not fit in anymore. Yet I still made the mistake of needing to finish off our meal with a latte. That really did it and I felt bloated. It was worse 15 mins later after the kheer expanded in my stomach. When I said I was going to pig out, I did not mean it to this extend. Oh well, next time I gotta be more picky.

Dinner last night at The Cove was, once again, a truly special experience.

The setting offers such an intimate dining experience and the service was top notch, with staff on hand to deal with any requests or concerns.

After some prevarication, we opted for the buffet menu, which allowed us to sample the many delights of the menu. What this served to underline was the depth and quality of the choices on offer, being very impressed with every dish we tried.

The butter chicken has such a delicious flavour though quite mild. The lamb korma was fantastic and was, in the words of my partner, "lightly spiced and creamy and just yummy!" The vegetable based dishes were also universally acknowledged at our table to be scrumptious.

The only negative was the coffee. My two companions ordered drinks that are a fairly standard item at most restaurants and cafés and yet what was served up was many times stronger than anything they'd expect to be served elsewhere.

As a non-coffee drinker, however, I didn't have any concerns re the coffee, so The Cove is right up there among my favourite restaurants. And in spite of the coffee issue, but my companions were effusive in their praise. As one said, you don't go to an Indian restaurant for the coffee!

We left this place feeling as if we would die! Believe it or not this is a great compliment. The food was very delicious, usual personal restraint was hard to keep in place.

It was Valentine's night when we made our debut at The cove, we made the booking and were told there will be a one off charge of $40p/p as they were only serving a buffet. The buffet was amazing they had an incredible range of entrees, curries, rice, breads, desserts etc, so much that it's humanly not possible to try everything.

The restaurant is a converted home and has a few different rooms that you can dine in, each with it's own sense of charm. We were seated on the patio, which was lovely.

Eventually we would love to go back to try there
Al a carte menu. Great Indian Eat!

I must say I am quite partial to the hot and spicy delights of Indian cuisine. This is my favourite Indian Restaurant and I've only visited it a couple of times - once for lunch a few years ago and last night for dinner with friends.

I really like how they've set up the internal structure of the venue with a selection of intimate private rooms and hidden "coves" decked out with long tables for the larger groups. This place has old world charm from the polished floorboards to the ornate ceiling roses.

Now to the food! We had the $35/head buffet and what a fantastic selection there was to choose from! First there was entrees - a variety of salads such as yoghurt coleslaw, chickpeas and raita and battered fish (done in a mildly spicy yellow batter), a couple of vegetable curries, tandori chicken and naan bread (I couldn't stop eating the garlic naan, it was so yummy!).

I was full after entrees, but being the glutton that I am, the mains followed. Curries galore! My eyes were way bigger than my belly and I loaded my plate with vindaloo beef, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, lamb korma, chicken madras, fish methi and a variety of plain and spicy rices. They also had vegetarian dishes on offer, I had some of the potato curries. All so delicious and flavoursome but I couldn't tell one from the other on my plate because they all mixed together in the end! I couldn't finish my meal but when someone said "pavlova" was on offer for dessert I found myself a new lease of life.

For dessert I tried the pav (of course), kheer (a sweet watery rice pudding), mango pudding and gulab jamuns (sweet pudding balls covered in a fragrant syrup) which I didn't really like. There was also fruit salad, very fresh and a refreshingly light end to the meal!

We BYO'd wine, it was $6/bottle. A little steep in my opinion, especially since all the waitress did was take the top off the bottle! The service, though, was lovely, very friendly and helpful throughout the night.

All in all, I was thoroughly pleased with my experience. We will definitely return for another meal one day!

This restaurant has a great ambience particularly unusual given its large size and busy vibe (recommend booking....if taking own wine there is a BWS liquor store across the road in Canning Hwy - parking also available at rear of BWS or in grounds of The Cove itself).

Various Indian artifacts and costume pieces make up the decor set within an old large bungalow type of building that was once residential (complete with tiled bottomed swimming pool ideal for the smokers to sit around outside in summer)...very British Colonial. I prefer the 'back enclosed verandah' area for dining but most areas have their own appeal. If dining more intimately/romantically then perhaps a table for two in one of the smaller rooms would suit better.

I have visited on probably 10 occasions and though I am still loathe to try the 'buffet' I have been told it is excellent and incredible value. I must admit it usually looks very fresh and smells incredible.

We have always apart from one occasion ordered a la carte, but on last visit had great assistance from a fabulous waiter who for a group of 10 of us tailored the most fantastic 'set menu' for us which worked out cheaper per head than the buffet and included all the options we wanted to have included.

The food is consistently good to excellent and portions though look small are very deceptive. The curries including butter chicken are all delicious and come in beautiful thick robust sauces which is a heavenly combination for dipping in the fantastic crisped on the outside, soft on the inside naan and roti breads. The usual accompaniments of raita, mango chutney etc are also a must. A great choice of dahls, rice dishes are there for the picking. I must confess to rarely ordering entrees as with Indian I probably enjoy the mains more and find them more than filling but usual options are available. As too with entrees never room to try dessert but I aim to next visit!

Finally restaurant is licensed and BYO - BYO wine only and I recall around $5 per bottle corkage. Service is always attentive and waitering staff have on every occasion been polite, friendly and immaculate with nothing ever being too much trouble.

A fun and delicious night out.

This restaurant has a massive curry selection on the buffet with pretty much every available combination of hot to mild, meat and vegetarian. All of it was great. They also have a good desert selection.

The atmosphere is excellent with a few medium sized rooms, and a relaxing outdoor area with a pool where you can spend some time with friends after a meal.

The only dampener on the night was when the cashier refused to accept our entertainment gold card as we did not state we were going to be using it when we sat down. This has never ever been a problem at any restaurant I have ever been to over the last 3 years or so.
