Food:

Very average. The tasting plate was probably the highlight of the meal.
One person ordered the barramundi on gnocchi and found it so oily he couldnt finish it, another ordered the kangaroo fillet which was nestled on what seemed to be an entire packet of couscous, i had the chicken salad (chewy noodles, brown avocado and an overly sweet dressing). My partner had the sirloin with chips and salad which was actually quiet nice.

Service:

Very hit and miss. They also left the empty tasting plate in the middle of the table after serving mains. It remained there until we left.

Ambience:

Cruisy pub atmosphere. A function upstairs was generating loud noises here and there but was not too intrusive.

Overall:
Wouldnt rush to go back here. Two entertainments vouchers were used which made it a pretty cheap night out.

Had lunch with my girlfriend today at the Saint - the service has improved greatly from last time we went. The atmosphere was great, comfortable dining and speedy drink orders. We shared the saint plate (tasting plate) which was perfect - lovely feta, spicy sausage, tasty pate and other bits. My friend had the seafood pasta which was creamy and tasty and I had the kangaroo with cous cous and spinach, very spicy and an interesting choice. We both had a drink each and coffee afterwards. Price for two was $75. Would definitely book again.

I went to this restaurant on a saturday night. The ambience is really good. The decor and seating was comfortable and spacious. We sat down and ordered drinks first then our meal. The meal took a little longer than expected but not long enough to feel really annoyed. The service overall wasnt up to the standard that you would expect. There were not enough waiters allocated to tables. When the food arrived after about 40 minutes it looked and tasted really good. My partner and i both ordered the steak and it was delicious apart from the side asparagus which wasnt even cooked. Overall It was pleasant and the only complaint I have is the service which wasnt up to standards.

I walked into this funky looking pub, it had trendy music and lovely art work on the walls. So far so good!

Then menu itself was grotty and needed a good clean but the selection of foods sounded delicious and interesting.

We had a glass of wine to start, served in an unpolished glass, but I didn’t realise getting a second drink would take so much effort. It wasnt busy but the staff looked like they would much rather be somewhere else, so they gave us no attention at all. No pepper was offered with the meal and there wasnt even any salt on the tables. Between our entree and mains our plates were not cleared and we did not get fresh cutlery and napkins. I consider all these things essential for when you dine out as you are paying for the service not just the food.

The food was great, the tasting plate was only $9.00 each and it came with a variety of good tasting and well presented food. I would recommend it to anyone who is going there, the main meals were nice too, they were hot, well presented and tasty and at a very good price we were just disappointed with the lack of service i guess.

So if you are just into good food and you don’t care about the level of service go to the saint.

We went to the Saint for dinner for the first time last night with another couple.

The staff were friendly on arrival and we were promptly shown to our table.

The menu had a good selection to choose from and there was also a specials menu.

We were a little disappointed that there was no more garlic bread available for starter (this was at 7.30pm on a Saturday night which was a little surprising), so opted for the Turkish bread and dips which proved to be an ample and tasty alternative.

The mains arrived without our starter plates being cleared which caused a bit of difficulty for the waiting staff as the table was a little small for moving to accommodate both lots of crockery. Some fast action by ourselves and staff soon overcame this.

I had the pink snapper fillets served on whip mashed potatoes with a tomato salsa was tasty though the potatoes could have done with a bit more whipping as it was rather heavy for the dish. The whole baked flounder with Asian vegetables went down well, so too did the chicken wrapped in prosciutto and the vegetarian tortellini. All serves were generous that's for sure!!!

We ordered one serve of the chocolate fondue which came with ample pieces of strawberries, banana, marshmallows, dark cherries and pineapple. Though it was only one serve it came with 4 prongs which was thoughtful.

The table were sat at was small but at least we could hear each other well. There are some larger bench like tables for bigger parties though the seats were extremely laid back, which could become quite difficult to interact with your guests and to hear each other given that was ambient noise.

Service was just OK as attention seemed to wane a little once our mains were served.

Definitely worth another visit as some point in the future.

My first impression of this place is: It has the best steak I've ever had in WA so far. I've tried other more expensive and elegant places, but this place has my highest rating for its steak.

Made a booking for a valentine’s day with my partner at 7.30 PM. To my amazement, there weren't many people there. We were seated but I would say not at the best table they could have given us, I could see lots of empty seats that would have been more romantic. Our seats have a candle at least, so it was quite nice.

We skipped entree and went straight for the main meal. I ordered the most expensive steak and another steak for my partner with a sweet potato mash for the side. It was a 20 minute wait. I had a medium rare and my girlfriend a well done and all I could say it was indeed the juiciest steak I've ever tasted. The potato mash was alright but that probably because I was enjoying my steak too much. The portion was right on the spot, we were neither overly full or still hungry.

We ordered a passionfruit pavlova for our dessert, which was quite delightful.

Our experience with the place and service was ok but the steak, never to be forgotten!

Overall:
Well as a local boozer this place isn't bad. Not bad at all in fact...

The restaurant though... really doesn't do the pub or the decor justice.

When you walk in, you know they spent a good amount of time and money on making the place look good. It's modern, trendy and looks the business.

But every time i've been here i've left feeling about 90% happy with the experience. Now.. don't get me wrong... it's not bad. Nothing is wrong with the place, it's just that you expect, well, better.

Firstly the staff. From what i've seen they're all real nice people, great to talk to, friendly and generally very switched on about the food and wine on offer. They go about their work with enthusiasm and gusto. It just seems that they are rushed. Last night we had to wait almost an hour to order, mainly because of a large group dining that night. But, still, an hour?

We were warned on ordering though that it might take some time because of the big group, but the wait wasn't that long at all. That aspect is commendable.

Now the food...
(frustrated sigh)
I don't know whether i'm just a picky/fussy/spoiled diner or what. But, when i finish the meal, i'm always feeling a little underwhelmed.

For entree i had the Fried Squid seasoned with Sesame Salt served with Lime Aioli and Asian Coleslaw. Great portion, well presented, tasted great, but a little tough.

For main i ordered the Kangaroo Fillet with leek and sweet potato rosti, chargrilled asparagus, roquette and creamy pimento sauce. Once again looked great (others commented on the portion appearing small, but i know from experience that with great food portions are often deceiving), the leek and sweet potato rosti was pretty good and the pimento sauce was spot on. The Kangaroo fillets were tasty, but cooked a little too harsh and the asparagus came out with tough, hard ends.

To avoid the chance that i was just unlucky, i tried a little of my friends Veal Shank and that also frustrated me. Meat was great but the accompanying vegetables were hard and undercooked by a mile.

I don't want this to be construed as a 'bad' review. Granted i wasn't entirely satisfied with the meal, for it's type and pricing it really does seem to be just under par, but the things that work against it are small and easily fixed.

The menu they have is great, and the food is usually quite tasty, it just seems the chef needs to be spending a little more time watching the fine details that go towards making a restaurant visit memorable.

I had high hopes for the Saint as it is within walking distance of home.

I have visited for dinner twice and have had disappointments on both occasions.

The first visit was nice but nothing special. The food was good but lacking in quantity. For the price I did not expect to be still hungry at the end of the meal.

On the second visit we chose different meals and were more satisfied. The big let down was what looked to be the restaurant manager or head wait person. He was rude and aloof. Not really the behaviour that makes you want to return. Having said that the wait staff doing the hard work were friendly and efficient.

The overall feel for the place is that you fit in here if you are twenty something wanting to have drinks with lots of noise, heat and smoke. The problem is that they have a lovely alfresco area but people can smoke here so everyone gets to enjoy the cigarette with them.

Maybe we will give it another go one day but three strikes and out.
