Welcome to Vasse Felix Winery & Restaurant

Vasse Felix Winery & Restaurant

At Margaret River's first commercial vineyard you will enjoy our food as much as our wine.

The timber and stone building which houses the Vasse Felix restaurant is natural, warm and welcoming in winter ~ earthy, cool and breezy in summer. In the upstairs balcony restaurant, lunches are served every day in a smart, casual environment that overlooks a sweeping panorama of vines and natural forests.

Forget the hustle and bustle. At Vasse Felix we encourage you to sit back, relax and enjoy the delights of our contemporary menu featuring fresh regional cuisine - the perfect complement to our premium wines.

Gourmet Travellers recent review on the Vasse Felix Restaurant ...... Western Australia's highest rating country restaurant 2 out of 3 stars - "Aaron Carr's smart, savvy fare is some of the finest in the south-west, so it's no suprise this is one of the regions busiest dining rooms."

Overall:
This place has an enviable reputation among Margaret River wineries and eateries, and now I know why.

After some initial hesitation by staff over availability of tables (they had a yum-cha function on downstairs, as well as an allegedly full restaurant upstairs), we were asked to wait 20 minutes for a table - so downstairs for a wine tasting, of course!

On our return, the restaurant still seemed relatively empty - but we got a table next to a window (some diners were also braving the balcony on an overcast and showery day) and things got better very quickly with a glass of the Heytesbury chardonnay.

The view over the vineyard, the grounds and the creek were picturesque and very peaceful, and we soaked up the atmosphere very quickly.

The menu comes with a glossary attached for a number of culinary phrases I hadn't come across before, which was a good idea. After a very competent tasting plate shared for entree, we both got stuck into a main course comprising what were effectively wild mushroom balls or rissoles (no meat)with caramelised onion and a small range of other accompaniments. A fabulous and imaginative dish, which stimulated the senses considerably.

We left very satisfied and relaxed. Definitely somewhere we would like to return to, and highly recommended.
