Overall:
Styled along the lines of the "classic" old English pub, a very enjoyable Sunday lunch was had by the three of us.
Starting with potato wedges with chilli sauce and sour cream to share at the table, the mains quickly followed and we realised that we probably shouldn't have ordered the wedges when we saw the sizes of the meals. Ordered were a porterhouse steak with pepper sauce, chicken kiev and 'chook and reef' - a grilled chicken breast with prawns (6 large ones) and garlic cream sauce.
The mains were cooked to perfection, very tasty and as previously mentioned, extremely generous in size. There was a choice of either salad or vegetables with the mains - a salad was shared by two of us and a large sized selection of steamed vegetables accompanied the chicken kiev.
Service was polite and attentive by the waitress and the owner/manager also dropped by to ask how the meal was progressing and whether we needed anything else.
If you're after a UK beer, this is the place to go. With over half a dozen on tap, a very large selection of bottled beers as well from England, Ireland and Wales makes the choice in deciding a hard one.
The ambience is quite pleasant with two separate eating areas to choose from. While not an overly large tavern, you don't feel cramped when at your table or at the bar. Plenty of parking space surrounds the tavern which comes in handy as you don't need to walk far to your car following an extremely enjoyable meal and couple of pints.
Well worth the trip down Old Mandurah Road; I'll be back there soon....
