Depending on what your order, the food can be very good or mediocre. I had veal scallopine with an al funghi sauce, my friend ordered a rib-eye steak. The steak was fantastic and left my friend satisfied. While I enjoyed the food I felt that the servings weren't sufficient. The roasted potatoes were yummy and the salad was fresh and was dressed with a nice vinaigrette that wasn't over-powering. Next, three of my friends ordered pasta, 2 spaghetti marinara dishes and a fettuccine with prawns dish. The fettuccine was quite bland, but had they were very generous with the prawns. One of spaghetti dishes tasted quite decent while the other (exact same dish) which came almost 20 minutes later tasted different.

- Despite reading many reviews about sub-par service, I decided to give it a try and see for myself. They were right. The waitress when reminded of a missing spaghetti marinara dish replied, "I only have two hands". Oh, I also had to wait a while before my orders were taken.

- The ambience was pretty nice albeit a little too dim for liking. The tables were nicely spaced out allowing plenty of walking room.

- It turns out that the waitress who took our order had missed out one order, the spaghetti marinara dish, they did not offer any compensation. Because of that some of my friends who decided to wait for that dish had to have cold pasta. At payment the receipts were mixed up, the manager(?) did not know how many drinks my table had and I had to tell him. All in all, a bad dining experience with little saving grace. If I had a choice, I will not dine there again.

I have loved this place since I moved to East Perth around five years ago. It has consistently delivered quality fare at decent prices.
It is true that on the odd occasion the service lacks attentiveness, but this is normally when the restaurant is busy with larger group bookings. When the staff do attend to you they are always friendly, and I have always been asked whether I enjoyed my meal and given a friendly farewell on departure.
I just wish the lovely little water feature hadn't been removed during the refurb. Bring it back Vivace!

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at Vivace. The staff were rude and ignorant. They did not offer our table drinks (we had 8 people) they did not open our champagne until we had to ask them twice. We sat for an hour before we had a chance to order water.
The girl who quoted the daily specials walked around the table whilst saying them (which was impossible to hear as the restaurant acoustics weren’t great) She did not make eye contact with anyone.
Our entrée’s tasted good however I couldn’t enjoy as I was worried they had forgotten my partners. Only after we all had eaten ours and I had to bring it to the waiter’s attention several times, my partner got his Antipasto which he enjoyed.
The mains arrived shortly after they weren’t what you'd expect from a "top end" restaurant but they were satisfying.
Being with Italians, we ordered coffee to finish, the waiter took our orders then as he got to myself and my partner he walked off. He then came back 5 minutes later to take our orders.
The service ruined what was going to be a great night.
We were lucky in the fact that we had an Italian couple dining at our table. The waiters seemed to only care about people who speak their language.

To be honest we were a bit disappointed with both the food and the service. Whilst the ambience was good we both thought the food lacked true Italian taste and was a bit bland. More like it came out of a packet rather than genuine Italian fare. The service was just adequate, with both the waiter and the cashier taking little interest in our welfare or even whether we enjoyed the meal.
Will probably try them again one day just to see whether we got them on a bad night or not.

A great favourite. At least once a month, sometimes twice, and if we have guests then we take them (and also business associates) as well. They then start taking people.
The restaurant is very busy, especially weekends, though it is not difficult to get a table, if you intend to take a group it is recommended to book.
The servings are exceptional. Unless you intend to make an evening of it, only order entree and main, or main and dessert. You will not be dissapointed with the sizes.
The food is absolutely genuine, and some of the best Italian around. Ambience is great and you are greeted with a warm and friendly smile each time you arrive.
The wine list is extensive, though you are also welcome to byo.
The tiramasu is to die for. Make sure you leave room for it, or buy one to take away.
The pizza's are one of the highlights if you want something not so filling, and a side of salad.
Do yourselves a favour and try it.

Never knew this place was so close to me! Had been wondering if there was Italian in East Perth.
Just had takeaway, had a beef and penne dish with a tomato based sauce, was very nice, definitely something that would take a bit of effort to cook at home, so well worth the purchase.
Tried the gnocchi with tomato/cream sauce and penne with the same sauce, plus chicken, nice again.
Definitely a place for inner city people who want Italian, I doubt they will be dissapointed.

Built on the site of the (in)famous L'Esgargot restaurant.
Over the past 2 years, I've probably been here 12 times (also there was a gap while they refurbished).
I've shared 3 entrees with my guest over lunch many times, and not been disappointed (and spent $40 including a glass of wine each).
I've also had larger groups there (up to 20), and the meals have been fine, with adequate service and the choices are reasonably diverse.
Ambience? Sit near a window (or the front glazing) especially night time. Daytime might be too 'ambient' <read, warm>:) Still, a good place for a relaxed lunch. Reliable rather than inspired.
