Overall:
My mother and I happened upon the Wild Fig during our West Coast Hwy drive yesterday midday. I had seen the place before but never stopped off for a meal like we did yesterday.
There was a number of people already seated. A large group of people left fairly soon after we arrived which sort of cleared the place for a little while. Most people were already eating when we were seated. We were offered the menu and water was brought to our table. Mum ordered light and decided on the Chicken, Thytme and Porcini soup while I chose the Prawnoodle salad.
We each ordered a fresh juice. Mum going for a Morning glory (orange, ? and ginger - the latter being a little overpowering). I Ordered a Pink Lady (which was watermelon, strawberry and cranberry juices). I liked mine as it was not too sweet and with ice it was very refreshing.
Our meals arrived shortly after (not too long a wait as previous reviewers of this restaurant had commented they experienced). Our waiter was a very happy bubbly sort of chap and nothing seemed too much trouble for him.
Mum likened the taste of her soup to a Chicken and cognac pate sort of flavour. It was thick like a Chowder and she said it was very pleasant.
My prawn noodle salad was a very unusual blend of flavours which was a really nice surpise for the ole taste buds. I was expecting a taste of 'asian' but this salad was a complete surprise. The rocket leaves provided a bitterness that complimented the flavoursome garlic grilled prawns, there was a hint of chilli but also a sweetness which was a real buzz. I was very impressed with my dish. The serving was a perfect size for lunch and not too many noodles to overpower the salad. Mum found the soup serving a little too large for her to finish.
As had things to do we opted to skip coffee and afters. The bill came to $46.00 which wasnt too bad. We had thoroughly enjoyed our lunch so no complaints on the price.
The casual ambience was good, mood was perfect for the setting and the coastal views were "Perth-West Coast perfect"
Yes, we'll give the Wild Fig another go. Perhaps other diners should try them too. You be the judge for yourself!
