Excellent excellent excellent. We had the chorizo tasting plate for two and were blown away by the quality of the produce. There was actually 2 plates to this dish, one with dips, bread and crackers and the other was a hot sizzling plate of chorizo, prawns, cheese, olives and roasted vegetables. Both plates were superb. The dips consisted of avocado aoli, macadamia pesto (the best) and tomato chutney and were a nice accompaniment for the bread and the other plate. The prawns and chorizo were very good quality (although I've never seen that much chorizo for two portions before) and like the the other morsels, were warmed to perfection.
We were left full and satisfied, one of the best tasting plates I've ever had. Great Sav Blanc too!!
Service was excellent. The staff remembered us from our wine tasting the day before and greeted us warmly. They were knowledgeable and courteous and we were served very quickly.
It was a cold and blustery day but the views of the vineyards and the surrounding hills was very charming, and the interior of the restaurant/cellar door was cosy and simple. The music was pitched at the right volume (quite quiet) since there weren't too many diners and I left feeling very relaxed.
Overall:
In spite of forgetting to use our Eating WA card discount, we had a lovely time at Wills Domain. The food, service, ambience and most importantly wine (!) were of an excellent standard and thoroughly lived up to the recommendations we had been given. We would certainly return and urge others to visit Wills Domain in the future. We were told that they were expanding their menu so that is just one reason to return!
